FRIDAY
19 en SATURDAY 20 MAY 2006
Open Circuit: iNTERaCT invites a
host of internationally renowned artists, brings them
together with local actors and creates the necessary space
tot develop challenging collaborations on a short term.
Having music as main denominator other artistic disciplines
as dance, theater, contemporary art and new media are
some of the possible basic ingredients.
The Open Circuit production platform answers with iNTERaCT
to the international call for improvisation and cross
pollination within and across
disciplines. Since the late nineties Kunstencentrum BELGIE
developed a cutting edge and highly successful program
showing improvisation in all its layers with renewing
events like Japanimprov, the critically acclaimed musicNOmusic
festival and a still ongoing series of free-jazz and improv
concerts (The Thing, Chicago Tentet, Aaly Trio, William
Parker, Paul Lytton, Thomas Ankersmit, Sunny Murray, Peter
Brötzmann, Fred Anderson, Hamid Drake, Matthew Shipp,
Susie Ibarra...).
Documenting this unique event (recording, filming, photographing)
is a major part of iNTERaCT. The artists will be followed
closely during their short but very intense preparation
time. This will result in an exposition already during
but also after the two day iNTERaCT event.
